Catie Crandell, LCSW (She/Her)
Catie is a Psychotherapist at And Still We Rise.
Guided by a collaborative approach, Catie believes in the inherent wisdom and insight that all individuals bring to the therapeutic space. She is passionate about working with anyone from the LGBTQIA+ community, “justice system”-impacted people, sexually marginalized folks, as well as anyone seeking to disrupt how systems of power influence their mental health and wellbeing. She grounds herself in an anti-oppressive framework that draws from intersectional, abolitionist, transfeminist, and decolonial models. Catie’s clinical work is rooted in relational, narrative, and psychodynamic practices, and she is deeply invested in fostering healing relationships with her clients through care, curiosity, and humor.
Catie holds an MSW from the Smith College for Social Work. Before pivoting to the mental health field, she studied and taught English literature for many years. Catie completed a B.A. at Stanford University, an M.St. at the University of Oxford, and a Ph.D. at Princeton University, with a focus on British literature of the 19th Century. As a result, she is highly attuned to how we are all (often unconsciously) guided and shaped by the words and stories that we use to describe ourselves, as well as those which are bestowed upon us by others. Metaphors and restorying are, in Catie’s opinion, therapeutic super-tools.
Catie lives with her partner and niece, as well as two beloved cats and multitudinous house plants. She wears dungarees on most days and identifies as a cheese enthusiast who also loves a good tomato.
Catie is fluent in English.
