Avani Sihra, MA (she/her) is a 4th Year Doctoral Trainee for And Still We Rise. She is a mixed-race feminist who believes in harm reduction and honoring a person's autonomy in every setting.

She champions the therapeutic alliance and is a huge proponent of viewing all people and all experiences through a person-centered, liberation, and destigmatization lens. Furthermore, Avani practices with an integrative therapeutic approach that emphasizes metacognitive therapy (MCT), emotion-focused therapy (EFT), feminist principles, and antiracist principles. She is also very passionate about addressing interpersonal concerns with oneself, within a relationship, and in all settings. Thus, she is enthusiastic about relational dynamics working both with couples and individuals. Avani feels impassioned by the opportunity to assist individuals with understanding their emotions and their emotional selves. 

Avani graduated magna cum laude from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. with a B.S. in history and psychology. She holds a master’s degree in Professional Psychology and is currently completing her doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She is very passionate about mental health activism, advocacy and consultative work. 

In her spare time, Avani loves traveling, watching documentaries, kayaking/canoeing/being on the water, playing with animals, and spending time with her loved ones!

Avani is fluent in English and is conversational in French and German.
