Dr. Sinam Ward, Ph.D (She/Her/Hers)
Essosinam Ward (she/her/hers) is a Black mixed-race, queer woman and postdoctoral psychotherapist at And Still We Rise. She received her Clinical Psychology Ph.D. at Adelphi University where she researched intergenerational trauma, mental health activism, and the impact of systemic oppression on mental health. Prior to completing her Ph.D., she received her Bachelor's degree in Sociology at Vassar College and was active in the racial justice movement and mental health organizing as a community organizer in Hudson Valley, New York. Based on these experiences, Essosinam aims to bring a social justice lens to her clinical work.
Through her work in community mental health and hospital settings, she has gained experience working with adults, couples, individuals who have experienced trauma and psychosis, and the LGBTQ community. She has also gained specialized training in trauma therapy at the Victims of Violence program at Cambridge Health Alliance.
Essosinam views therapy as an opportunity for individuals to discover explicit and implicit patterns of behavior and beliefs that may no longer support them. She aims to help clients understand the personal and social factors that may impact their mental health challenges and to integrate past experiences so that they are empowered to make intentional choices and meet their goals.
Essosinam is originally from Boston, MA and, in her free time, she enjoys exploring the city, trying new foods, and spending time in nature.
Essosinam is fluent in English.
